Biography
Gillian served articles in the
Bristol firm of Veale Benson, before moving on as an
assistant solicitor firstly to an Oxford firm, and then to
Bradfield & Howson in Maidstone. She then commenced her own
legal practice in Surrey, which she describes as being
enormous fun and perfect for the working mother of 3
children.
In 1998 she followed her husband, then Cheshire’s County
Planning Officer, to Chester and joined Birch Cullimore,
becoming a partner in 2005. Gillian specialises in the
acquisition and disposal of commercial and agricultural
property, both freehold and leasehold, and advises a number
of large landowners on property-related matters. She also
deals with planning matters, for example dealing with
planning appeals and enforcement action, as well as advising
her clients on applications for planning permission and the
minefield of works to listed buildings.
Gillian is the eldest of 3 daughters and this may have led
to an interest in ensuring fair play and problem solving
which remains an important factor in the way she practices
law. In her spare time Gillian loves to read or go to the
theatre, is interested in historic buildings and is a keen
cyclist.
